Galaxy Inspired Christmas Card Tutorial

9th Dec 2023

t’s time for a relaxing Procreate tutorial! If you are like me and create your holiday greeting cards way too late every year - then today's video is for you!

I created this by special request from Hanneke. She's asked me to create a holiday e-card tutorial because she’s moved overseas recently and is worried that a real card sent through the post might not arrive in time for the holidays. She wants the design to be loose and effortless, and also a bit easy to create.

And of course I said I’d love to make the tutorial! Hanneke mentioned that her favorite Procreate brushes are my Galaxy brushes and I think they are perfect for this project.

You'll see that it will not take very long and is very relaxing and easy - just what we need during this time of the year!

And I've been busy planning for 2024 already - the first thing I created was a color palette. Haha yes I know it's a bit random, but what better way of setting the mood for the new year with colors!

I really want 2024 to be bright and happy and positive, and the new color palette reflects that very nicely. I've created a little test strip of all the colors and hex codes to print on watercolor paper. That way I get to see what the colors look like before I print my artwork. The hardest colors to get right are orange and blue for some reason, so it’s very handy to do this little test first.

You can recreate the color palette in Procreate yourself if you'd like, using the hex codes in the image. It's very relaxing and satisfying. Alternatively, you can also download it from the link below and import it straight into Procreate.

Last but not least, below are the brushes I've used for the holiday card tutorial, and of course the free iPad Lettering 2024 Colour Palette:

Thank you so much for all your support and happy Holiday Card painting!
