How to create beautiful seamless repeating patterns in Procreate

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been seeing cute design patterns everywhere lately! So of course I had to try and create some for myself - and was instantly addicted! Seamless patterns don’t just look cute, they are also very useful for all sorts of applications. You don’t need a super high resolution file, because you can stitch as many tiles together as you want, and make your file as big as it needs to be for your chosen application. Just for fun I’ve uploaded some of my patterns to Redbubble to have them mocked up on a variety of merchandise - it’s really cool to see your creations come to life! It’s also the easiest way to open your own shop and sell your designs if you wanted to :) |

In this week’s tutorial you will learn how to create these patterns yourself! It’s a really fun process because you never quite know what your pattern will look like until the end, but you’ll always be positively surprised!

I’ve used my Watercolor Fruit painting brushes for this tutorial because the set contains pre-made fruit stamp brushes that make the process a bit faster. Alternatively you could also use the Watercolor Florals painting brushes which contain a set of leave stamp brushes.
But of course you can also use any of your other brushes or not use the stamps, the pattern making concept is exactly the same :) Enjoy the tutorial and happy pattern creation! |
